The Cat and Venus

A cat fell in love with a handsome young man, and begged Venus to change her into a woman. Venus saw how moved the cat was and transformed her into a beautiful lady. The young man saw her and fell in love at once. Venus, wishing to discover if the cat in her change of shape had also altered her habits of life, let down a mouse in the middle of the room. The cat, forgetting that she was now a person, jumped up to catch the mouse and eat it. Venus was disappointed and returned her to the form of a cat.

Aesop’s moral: Nature is greater than nurture.

My moral: Real change concerns who you are, not what you look like (and doesn't happen in an instant).

When companies try to change, they often use graphically overpowering powerpoint slides, send a few emails, and ply employees with a few (contextually empty) rational arguments. Inevitably these fail because a company and its culture do not change so quickly or easily. Companies change when people change, and that is hard and takes time.

I can help your company change by helping your culture and people change through development of everything you'll need help with from strategic visioning to tactical communications. To learn more about my skills and experience in change management and knowledge management, contact me.
